COMMUNITIES The Fayetteville area real estate market includes most of Cumberland County and a large part of Hoke and Harnett counties, as well. The city is geographically spread, especially since large areas were recently annexed into the city and Fort Bragg may soon be annexed, also. Other nearby municipalities include Hope Mills, Spring Lake, Raeford, and Stedman. The population of the Fayetteville area is over 300,000. The largest employer in the local area is the federal government.  Fort Bragg and Pope Air Force Base have over 50,000 soldiers and airmen, and over 10,000 civilian employees.  Those numbers are expected to continue to grow with the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) decision to relocate another 20,000 military and civilians to the area.  As you might suspect, the real estate market in the area is very active, and loaded with opportunities for home buyers, sellers, renters, and investors.
