Raeford, NORTH CAROLINA

The town of Raeford got its name from John McRae and A.A. Williford, who set up a post office there in 1885.  A community grew around the post office, and in 1901 the town was chartered.  in 1911, when Hoke County was established, Raeford was named the county seat.
